Today Google, Arcade Fire, and artist Chris Milk have launched a music video that actually incorporates Google Maps and Google Street View images of the viewer’s hometown into the video. The viewer enters a street address into the browser, generating a customized music video for an Arcade Fire song.

Jed’s Other Poem is the official music video for Grandaddy’s song of the same name. This song serves as a eulogy for Jeddy-3, a humanoid robot built from spare parts. He is a recurring character on Grandaddy’s record “The Sophtware Slump.” According to Grandaddy before Jed’s system crashed he wrote poems. Poems for no one.

Programmed entirely in Applesoft BASIC on a vintage 1979 Apple ][+ with 48K of RAM, a computer so old it has no hard drive or mouse and only types in capitals. The Jed source code is available for download making it the first open-source music video.

Some guy recorded his daughter making a ton of silly noises and then remixed them with the video to make a pretty cool song, akin to Aphex Twin’s work. I have to say, I’m semi-motivated to go to iTunes Store and see if I can buy this little girl’s song. It’s pretty rockin’. She’s tied with Tiny Art Director for the cutest kid on da interwebz right now.

Italian artist, Adriano Celentano wrote this song with gibberish to sound like English. Youtuber emeryemery writes: What I have done here is add subtitles just for fun. It’s a different way of experiencing this insanely brilliant performance.

I really have no comment on this video. It’s weirdly funny, but that’s all I’ve got. Add this to v1r4l’s growing list of auto-tuned posts.
